| Brain Quest Hipanic AmericaI used Brain Quest to study for the Spanish subject area test (the cultural perspective section). Although I found the questions interesting, I did not find them helpful for the Spanish subject area exam. If I do teaching Spanish, I would find the trivia cards useful for my classroom.
Brain Quest-Hispanic AmericaThis is a cute and fun way to practice. I've also enjoyed using it as a game with my students in class.
with emphasis on baseball ...I am an adult who ordered this product to help study for the Spanish PRAXIS (think SATs for teachers), because so many reviews suggested that it was a good idea. It didn't hurt me any (other than sifting through all the baseball trivia ... needless to say, the PRAXIS doesn't emphasize baseball nearly as much as these cards, and surely the authors didn't expect every kid to be quite THAT interested in baseball, did they?), but it didn't help as much as I hoped, either. For the price, this is a good start to studying for the culture on the PRAXIS, but please, find yourself something else to help with that too! Obviously, these cards were not designed to help study for an adult standardized test, and the official PRAXIS study guide doesn't give you any useful guidelines as to which "culture" facts (geography, history, the arts, idiomatic expressions and local customs for 25-30 countries plus individual regions and cities) to study, so if anybody knows another more helpful source for PRAXIS culture study, please drop us a line about it.
If you're not jumping on the "study these for the PRAXIS" band wagon, like I did, these cards are an amusing way to pass small chunks of time. Everybody from my youngest students (aged 12) to my 85-year-old grandmother has gotten a kick out of trying to answer the more interesting questions.
They're okayOverall, this is a good set of questions. I did find some to be a bit biased and slightly questionable as far as accuracy. Also, it seemed to me that many questions were either really easy or really difficult. I was hoping for more intermediate level questions.
Excellent resource!I recommend this for anyone who is learning or teaching Spanish. It's a great classroom resource!
