He always incorporates sexual behavior of his characters in all of his novels. Shirley Eubank read all of his as they came out and told me how dirty they were to be written by a priest. He is a professor of the University of Chicago, alma mater of son Jeff, and continues to carry on a love affair with the Windy City. I loved it, too, the three times I was lucky enough to be there.
Nelson DeMille calls him "a master storyteller." In this book, he tries to show the readers how to make the best of their "Golden Years." Others in his reportorie include SEPTEMBER SONG, IRISH CREAM, EMERALD MAGIC, THE PRIESTLY SINS, and his autobiography, FURTHERMORE: CONFESSIONS OF A PARISH PRIEST. GOLDEN YEARS make a good read, as we attempt to enjoy life to its fullest in our golden years before time runs out.

| Complete Waste of MoneyIf you are interested in a test prep guide that will tell you how to identify the physical symptoms of nervousness (yes, they include nausea) and which elaborates a bogus theory about how your score on seemingly any standardized test corresponds to your IQ, then this is the book for you. If, however, you are interested in purchasing a book that will help you prepare for the GRE Literature exam, this book is an enormous waste of money and time. Aside from some extremely basic terminology (such as "simile" and "metaphor") and a listing of about 20 authors with which you should be familiar before taking the exam, the book is almost entirely devoid of any substance about the exam (including, even, how many questions are on the exam, or how long the exam lasts). It's completely unfathomable that anyone is charging money for this, let alone nearly $40!
